Description
The small Wren in stone is the least expected bag in the range: pale grey woven leather, at a size that gets carried to lunch rather than to work. It is a spring and summer bag, and it will show a spill, which is why a protector cloth ships with it.
Its working dimensions are a 28cm opening, a 11cm base and 24cm of height. A tablet, a purse, keys, glasses and a small bottle. A day bag rather than a work bag, and the woven one people reach for most. Drop is 21cm: will sit on a shoulder over a shirt but fights a thick coat.
It is the woven bag people buy second and end up using more, because it goes everywhere a work bag cannot.
The leather
A cool stone grey hide, cut down into strands and woven rather than used as a flat panel. The weave runs over a full leather backing panel rather than being left open, so the strands cannot spread under load. It is the palest bag we make and the one that will show a spill, which is why a protector cloth ships with it.
How it is made
Hand stitching where it carries weight, machine stitching where it does not, which is an honest division of labour. Handles are set through the body panel and riveted in solid brass at both ends, never glued to a tab. Inside: cotton twill, a zip pocket on the wall and two open pockets opposite it. Made to order and dispatched in 4 to 6 working days, or about a day longer with a monogram.

Questions people ask about this bag
Can I carry a laptop in this bag?
No, and that is deliberate. At 28cm wide and 11cm deep it takes a tablet at most. If you need a laptop bag, look at the Lorne or the large Marlow instead.
Will the woven leather stretch or sag?
Not in the way an unbacked woven bag does. Every strand is woven over a full leather backing panel, so the weave cannot spread under load. It will soften, which is different from sagging.
Is the canvas waterproof?
Water resistant, not waterproof. The wax sheds rain and light spray, and the leather base keeps the bottom of the bag off wet ground. In sustained heavy rain the canvas will eventually wet through and then dry out with no damage.
How long will it take to reach me?
Woven bags take 4 to 6 working days to make because the weave is done by hand. We ship worldwide with tracking and the checkout shows the arrival window for your country before you pay.
How do I know this is genuinely full grain leather?
Look at the photographs of the surface. Full grain keeps the original grain, including old scars and insect marks, because nothing has been sanded off and sprayed over. If a leather panel is perfectly uniform it has been corrected. Ours are not.
