Description
The medium chocolate Marlow is the one we recommend to people who have never spent this much on a bag and are quietly worried about marking it. Dark, even, and forgiving enough that a scuff on the corner disappears rather than becoming the thing you look at.
35cm wide at the mouth, 12cm deep on the floor of the bag, 27cm from base to handle root. A 13 inch laptop, a slim notebook and a day’s things fit. A laptop and gym kit together do not, and that is what the large size is for. Handle drop is 23cm, which clears most coats on the shoulder.
This is the bag for someone who wants one tote for work and weekends and does not carry a spare pair of shoes.
The leather
Chocolate is a through dyed full grain hide with a very even take up. Scuffs and water marks both disappear into it, which makes it the most forgiving colour we make.
How it is made
The seams that carry weight are hand stitched rather than machined, because a handle is what fails first on a tote. The base is cut as its own reinforced panel, so a full load sits flat instead of on a fold. Lined in heavy cotton twill with a zip pocket on the back wall and two open pockets facing it. Dispatch is 3 to 5 working days from order, because nothing here sits on a shelf waiting.

Will a 13 inch laptop fit in this bag?
Yes. The opening is 35cm across and the base is 12cm deep, and a machine that size lies flat against the back panel. Anything larger than a 13 inch will sit above the top edge.
Does the bag hold its shape when it is empty?
Mostly. The base is a single reinforced panel so it stands up, and the sides soften a little over the first months, which is what stops a structured tote looking boxy.
Will this colour scratch or scuff easily?
It is aniline dyed full grain, so the colour runs through the leather instead of sitting on top as a film. A scratch does not leave a pale line, it buffs back with a thumb or a drop of conditioner.
Is the monogram really free?
Yes, on every bag, including this one. Three letters in gold foil, silver foil or a blind press with no colour. It adds about a day before dispatch and we email you a proof of the placement first.
Can I return it if I have my initials pressed on it?
No. A monogrammed bag cannot be resold, so it is final sale. Unmonogrammed bags can go back for 60 days in unused condition and we pay the return postage inside the US.
