Description
The medium navy Lorne is the smallest formal bag we make. Blue in daylight, close to black indoors, and narrow enough to sit under an arm through a full commute without becoming the thing you are carrying.
The opening runs 36cm, the base is 12cm deep and the body stands 28cm high. A 14 inch laptop goes in the same padded back sleeve, with room for a charger and a slim notebook and not much beyond that. Expect 22cm of handle drop, enough that it clears a jacket on the shoulder and is tight over a heavy coat.
It suits a commute of a laptop and nothing else, or anyone for whom the large one sat too wide under the arm.
The leather
Getting navy even on full grain is hard enough that the usual answer is a coated hide. We did not take that route. We use a double dip on a naturally dark hide instead, so it is blue in daylight and nearly black under a warm bulb.
How it is made
Brass hardware throughout, unplated, because plating wears through to grey exactly where your hand goes. Load bearing seams are saddle stitched by hand, two needles through one hole, so a cut thread stays put instead of running. A padded full height sleeve, one zip pocket, two open pockets and a pen loop, all in cotton twill. Cut, stitched and finished to order in 3 to 5 working days.

Will a 14 inch laptop fit in this bag?
Yes. The opening is 36cm across and the base is 12cm deep, and it sits in the padded sleeve on the back wall. Anything larger than a 14 inch will sit above the top edge.
Does the zip run the full width of the opening?
Yes. It is a two way brass zip that runs the whole 36cm, so you can open it from either end or leave a gap in the middle for a cable.
Will this colour scratch or scuff easily?
It is aniline dyed full grain, so the colour runs through the leather instead of sitting on top as a film. A scratch does not leave a pale line, it buffs back with a thumb or a drop of conditioner.

How do I know this is genuinely full grain leather?
Look at the photographs of the surface. Full grain keeps the original grain, including old scars and insect marks, because nothing has been sanded off and sprayed over. If a leather panel is perfectly uniform it has been corrected. Ours are not.
