Description
Cognac makes the Lorne look less like a work bag and more like a bag that happens to hold a laptop, which is exactly what most people who buy it want. The amber tone warms up under office light instead of flattening the way dyed corrected grain does.
Its working dimensions are a 41cm opening, a 14cm base and 30cm of height. A 16 inch laptop sits in the padded sleeve on the back wall, which leaves the whole body free for everything else. Expect 22cm of handle drop, enough that it clears a jacket on the shoulder and is tight over a heavy coat.
It is for putting a laptop on a table in a room where you would rather the bag said nothing at all.
The leather
A wax finish over full grain, with no lacquer on top of it. The surface picks up a low shine where you handle it and stays matte everywhere else.
How it is made
Hand stitching where it carries weight, machine stitching where it does not, which is an honest division of labour. Handles are set through the body panel and riveted in solid brass at both ends, never glued to a tab. A padded full height sleeve, one zip pocket, two open pockets and a pen loop, all in cotton twill. Made to order and dispatched in 3 to 5 working days, or about a day longer with a monogram.

Will a 16 inch laptop fit in this bag?
Yes. The opening is 41cm across and the base is 14cm deep, and it sits in the padded sleeve on the back wall. Anything larger than a 16 inch will sit above the top edge.
Does the zip run the full width of the opening?
Yes. It is a two way brass zip that runs the whole 41cm, so you can open it from either end or leave a gap in the middle for a cable.
Will the cognac colour change with use?
It deepens about half a shade in the first year, most visibly where your hand rests on the handles. It will not change dramatically the way our vegetable tanned tan does.
Is the monogram really free?
Yes, on every bag, including this one. Three letters in gold foil, silver foil or a blind press with no colour. It adds about a day before dispatch and we email you a proof of the placement first.
Can I return it if I have my initials pressed on it?
No. A monogrammed bag cannot be resold, so it is final sale. Unmonogrammed bags can go back for 60 days in unused condition and we pay the return postage inside the US.
