Description
Charcoal softens the Lorne without making it casual. Against a black coat it reads as a deliberate second tone rather than a mismatch, and it hides the grey dust that black leather shows after a week of trains. The zip tape is matched to the leather rather than contrasted.
The opening runs 41cm, the base is 14cm deep and the body stands 30cm high. A 16 inch laptop sits in the padded sleeve on the back wall, which leaves the whole body free for everything else. Drop is 22cm: clears a jacket on the shoulder and is tight over a heavy coat.
It is for putting a laptop on a table in a room where you would rather the bag said nothing at all.
The leather
We take a hide that is already cool and grey in tone and dye charcoal into it, rather than lightening a black. It stays cool rather than turning brown in strong light, and the colour sits deeper inside the grain lines.
How it is made
Brass hardware throughout, unplated, because plating wears through to grey exactly where your hand goes. Load bearing seams are saddle stitched by hand, two needles through one hole, so a cut thread stays put instead of running. The interior is built around the laptop: a padded back wall, a zip pocket, a pen loop and a clipped key leash. Cut, stitched and finished to order in 3 to 5 working days.

Will a 16 inch laptop fit in this bag?
Yes. The opening is 41cm across and the base is 14cm deep, and it sits in the padded sleeve on the back wall. Anything larger than a 16 inch will sit above the top edge.
Does the zip run the full width of the opening?
Yes. It is a two way brass zip that runs the whole 41cm, so you can open it from either end or leave a gap in the middle for a cable.
Will this colour scratch or scuff easily?
It is aniline dyed full grain, so the colour runs through the leather instead of sitting on top as a film. A scratch does not leave a pale line, it buffs back with a thumb or a drop of conditioner.
How do I know this is genuinely full grain leather?
Look at the photographs of the surface. Full grain keeps the original grain, including old scars and insect marks, because nothing has been sanded off and sprayed over. If a leather panel is perfectly uniform it has been corrected. Ours are not.
Is the monogram really free?
Yes, on every bag, including this one. Three letters in gold foil, silver foil or a blind press with no colour. It adds about a day before dispatch and we email you a proof of the placement first.
