Description
Charcoal in the medium Lorne is the quiet version of a quiet bag. It reads as a second dark tone next to black clothes rather than a mismatch, and at 36cm it stays closer to a briefcase than a holdall.
36cm wide at the mouth, 12cm deep on the floor of the bag, 28cm from base to handle root. It takes a 14 inch machine in the sleeve, a charger and a notebook. That is the honest limit at this width. At 22cm of drop it clears a jacket on the shoulder and is tight over a heavy coat.
This is the version for a smaller frame, or for a day that is a laptop, a charger and a notebook.
The leather
Charcoal is dyed over a naturally grey toned hide rather than a black one cut with white. Indoors it photographs almost black. Outside it is clearly grey, and the grain shows across the whole panel.
How it is made
The seams that carry weight are hand stitched rather than machined, because a handle is what fails first on a tote. The base is cut as its own reinforced panel, so a full load sits flat instead of on a fold. Twill lined, with the laptop sleeve running the whole height of the back so the machine cannot slide under everything else. Dispatch is 3 to 5 working days from order, because nothing here sits on a shelf waiting.

Will a 14 inch laptop fit in this bag?
Yes. The opening is 36cm across and the base is 12cm deep, and it sits in the padded sleeve on the back wall. Anything larger than a 14 inch will sit above the top edge.
Does the zip run the full width of the opening?
Yes. It is a two way brass zip that runs the whole 36cm, so you can open it from either end or leave a gap in the middle for a cable.
Will this colour scratch or scuff easily?
It is aniline dyed full grain, so the colour runs through the leather instead of sitting on top as a film. A scratch does not leave a pale line, it buffs back with a thumb or a drop of conditioner.
How do I know this is genuinely full grain leather?
Look at the photographs of the surface. Full grain keeps the original grain, including old scars and insect marks, because nothing has been sanded off and sprayed over. If a leather panel is perfectly uniform it has been corrected. Ours are not.
Is the monogram really free?
Yes, on every bag, including this one. Three letters in gold foil, silver foil or a blind press with no colour. It adds about a day before dispatch and we email you a proof of the placement first.
