Description
Cognac in the medium Lorne is the bag people buy when they want a laptop bag that does not announce itself as one. Amber under office light, warm rather than corporate, and small enough that it reads as a handbag with a zip.
You get 36cm of opening and, more usefully, 12cm of depth at the bottom rather than at the belly. It takes a 14 inch machine in the sleeve, a charger and a notebook. That is the honest limit at this width. The 22cm drop means it clears a jacket on the shoulder and is tight over a heavy coat.
This is the version for a smaller frame, or for a day that is a laptop, a charger and a notebook.
The leather
Cognac is full grain finished with a light wax rather than a topcoat. Expect it to move about half a shade darker in the first year, most obviously along the handles.
How it is made
Every cut edge is sanded and burnished in four passes rather than painted, so it cannot flake off in a strip. No edge paint anywhere on the bag, and no glued handle tabs, which are the two places a cheap tote gives way. Heavy twill, a padded sleeve against your back, and a key leash so keys never end up at the bottom. Nothing is pre made, so allow 3 to 5 working days before it ships.

Will a 14 inch laptop fit in this bag?
Yes. The opening is 36cm across and the base is 12cm deep, and it sits in the padded sleeve on the back wall. Anything larger than a 14 inch will sit above the top edge.
Does the zip run the full width of the opening?
Yes. It is a two way brass zip that runs the whole 36cm, so you can open it from either end or leave a gap in the middle for a cable.
Will the cognac colour change with use?
It deepens about half a shade in the first year, most visibly where your hand rests on the handles. It will not change dramatically the way our vegetable tanned tan does.
Is the monogram really free?
Yes, on every bag, including this one. Three letters in gold foil, silver foil or a blind press with no colour. It adds about a day before dispatch and we email you a proof of the placement first.
Can I return it if I have my initials pressed on it?
No. A monogrammed bag cannot be resold, so it is final sale. Unmonogrammed bags can go back for 60 days in unused condition and we pay the return postage inside the US.
