Description
The small sand Ellis is a warm weather bag and does not pretend otherwise. Pale waxed cotton with cognac trim, light in the hand, and the one in the range that most obviously belongs to a season rather than to a year.
Its working dimensions are a 30cm opening, a 12cm base and 26cm of height. Sized for a 13 inch laptop or a market run rather than a full working day, and it folds flatter than anything else here when empty. Expect 22cm of handle drop, enough that it clears a jacket on the shoulder and is tight over a heavy coat.
It suits a market, a beach or a car, and it is the bag people keep in the boot because it packs flat.
The canvas and the leather
Sand coloured 18oz waxed cotton over cognac full grain leather where the bag takes its wear. The wax gives it a slight sheen when new, which knocks back to a dry matte after a few weeks of carrying.
How it is made
Hand stitching where it carries weight, machine stitching where it does not, which is an honest division of labour. Handles are set through the body panel and riveted in solid brass at both ends, never glued to a tab. Cotton twill throughout, with one zipped pocket and two open, and no glue anywhere in the assembly. Made to order and dispatched in 3 to 5 working days, or about a day longer with a monogram.

Will a 13 inch laptop fit in this bag?
Yes. The opening is 30cm across and the base is 12cm deep, and a machine that size lies flat against the back panel. Anything larger than a 13 inch will sit above the top edge.
How do I clean and re wax the canvas?
Brush off dry dirt, then wipe with a damp cloth and cold water only, never detergent and never a machine. Re wax with an ordinary wax bar once every year or two. We will also re wax it here free in the first two years if you cover the postage.
Is the canvas waterproof?
Water resistant, not waterproof. The wax sheds rain and light spray, and the leather base keeps the bottom of the bag off wet ground. In sustained heavy rain the canvas will eventually wet through and then dry out with no damage.
What is covered if something breaks?
Stitching and hardware are covered for as long as you own the bag. Send it back and we repair it. Wear on the leather itself, and anything caused by an accident, we repair at cost rather than free.
