Description
Chocolate is the Wren for people who like the texture but not the attention. The dark, even tone flattens the weave into something closer to a heavy fabric, and it is the easiest of the woven colourways to wear in winter against a dark coat.
The numbers are 36cm across the opening, 28cm tall and 13cm deep at the base. A 13 inch laptop in a sleeve, a book and a bottle. Woven leather has more give than a solid panel, so it takes an awkward load better. Drop is 23cm: clears most coats on the shoulder.
It is for someone who wants texture rather than a flat panel and still needs the bag to do a day’s work.
The leather
The dye goes right through this hide and takes evenly, which is rare in a dark brown. The weave runs over a full leather backing panel rather than being left open, so the strands cannot spread under load. It looks consistent across a large panel where a lighter brown would show variation.
How it is made
Load bearing seams are saddle stitched by hand, two needles through one hole, so a cut thread stays put instead of running. Brass hardware throughout, unplated, because plating wears through to grey exactly where your hand goes. Inside: cotton twill, a zip pocket on the wall and two open pockets opposite it. This one is cut when you order it and leaves in 4 to 6 working days.

Will a 13 inch laptop fit in this bag?
Yes. The opening is 36cm across and the base is 13cm deep, and a machine that size lies flat against the back panel. Anything larger than a 13 inch will sit above the top edge.
Will the woven leather stretch or sag?
Not in the way an unbacked woven bag does. Every strand is woven over a full leather backing panel, so the weave cannot spread under load. It will soften, which is different from sagging.
Will this colour scratch or scuff easily?
It is aniline dyed full grain, so the colour runs through the leather instead of sitting on top as a film. A scratch does not leave a pale line, it buffs back with a thumb or a drop of conditioner.
Is the monogram really free?
Yes, on every bag, including this one. Three letters in gold foil, silver foil or a blind press with no colour. It adds about a day before dispatch and we email you a proof of the placement first.
Can I return it if I have my initials pressed on it?
No. A monogrammed bag cannot be resold, so it is final sale. Unmonogrammed bags can go back for 60 days in unused condition and we pay the return postage inside the US.
