The Hollis — Tobacco Suede Hobo Bag

The Hollis Suede is our crescent hobo cut in soft cow suede: it curves down from a single wide strap and relaxes against your side, with a zip top so nothing falls out when it slouches.

Tobacco is a rich mid brown with a hint of orange, the classic suede colour. The nap catches the light and darkens slightly where your hand rests, which is part of the look.

Laid flat it is 15.75″ (40 cm) wide and 11.75″ (30 cm) tall, 4.75″ (12 cm) deep at the base, with a 9.75″ (25 cm) drop. It holds far more than its outline suggests: a water bottle, a cardigan, a tablet and the daily kit.

Inside there is a zip pocket high on the back wall for keys and cards, so they never sink into the bottom of the curve, and two open pockets for a phone and sunglasses.

The suede

We use cow suede with a short, even nap, so it feels soft without shedding. The strap, binding and zip ends are smooth full-grain leather, which takes the wear that suede alone would not.

How it is made

Made to order in our own workshop. The suede body is lined in cotton twill so it keeps its shape, the strap anchors are leather, stitched and riveted, and the hardware is solid brass.

Care

Keep a suede brush and an eraser block at home: brush to refresh, rub out small marks with the block, and avoid heavy rain. Never use leather conditioner on the suede.
