The Wells — Tan Woven Leather Crossbody Bag

Tan is the light, saddle-coloured brown. It shows the most change of any colour we make, darkening to a honey patina with sun and handling, so no two of them look the same after a year.

The Wells is a hand woven camera crossbody: a compact box shape with woven full-grain leather on the front and back, smooth leather sides and a zip top.

It is 9″ (23 cm) wide, 6.25″ (16 cm) tall and 3.25″ (8 cm) deep, with a strap that adjusts up to a 23.5″ (60 cm) drop. The deep base takes a phone, wallet, sunglasses in their case and keys.

Inside there is one open pocket and one zip pocket. It comes with an adjustable 1″ (2.5 cm) smooth leather crossbody strap on solid brass swivel clips, up to a 23.5″ (60 cm) drop.

The weave

The front is woven by hand from strips of full-grain leather cut from the same hide as the rest of the bag. The weave sits on a solid leather back panel, so it holds its shape and the contents never show through.

How it is made

Weaving adds most of a day to each bag. The strips are woven on a board, stitched to the backing panel around every edge, then the bag is assembled and saddle stitched by hand in our own workshop. That is why woven styles leave us in 4 to 6 working days.

Care

Brush dust out of the weave with a soft dry brush, keep it out of long direct sun, and condition the smooth parts twice a year. Do not soak the woven panel.
