The Marlow — Brindle Hair-On Cowhide Tote Bag

The Marlow Hair-On is our Marlow medium tote with hair-on cowhide front and back panels, framed in full grain leather with riveted leather handles.

Brindle hair-on cowhide, warm brown with darker tiger-like striping, trimmed in chocolate full grain leather. Every hide is patterned differently, so yours will be one of a kind.

It is 14.5 inches wide at the opening, 11 inches tall and 5 inches deep at the base, and it takes a 13-inch laptop.

Inside there is a zip pocket on the back wall and two open pockets, and a magnetic tab keeps the top closed.

The hide

The panels are hair-on cowhide: the hair is left on the hide, so the color and pattern are natural and every bag is different. Yours will not match the photos exactly, and that is the point. Expect a few loose hairs in the first weeks; that settles quickly. The trim, handles and straps are smooth full grain leather.

How it is made

Made to order in our own workshop. Every piece is cut by hand, the seams are stitched with waxed thread, the edges are sanded and burnished rather than painted, and the hardware is solid brass. Three initials are pressed free on the leather trim, in gold foil, silver foil or a blind press.

Care

Brush the hair gently in the direction it lies, keep it dry, and never use conditioner, oil or a damp cloth on the hair. Condition only the smooth leather trim, twice a year.
