The Masham — Cognac Buffalo Leather Dopp Kit

The Masham is a dopp kit in full grain buffalo leather: a boxy wash bag with a two-way brass zip and a carry loop at one end.

Cognac buffalo, a warm reddish brown; the pull-up finish lightens at every fold and darkens back with handling.

At 10 inches long it holds a full razor kit and travel bottles, and stands open on a basin.

The lining is coated and wipes clean, with elastic loops for a razor and brush.

The leather

This is full grain water buffalo leather with a pull-up finish: a thicker hide than cow, with a bold, deep natural grain, finished in oils and waxes that lighten where the leather flexes and darken back as you handle it. Scratches buff out with a thumb. No two panels have quite the same grain.

How it is made

Made to order in our own workshop. Every piece is cut by hand, the seams are stitched with waxed thread, the edges are sanded and burnished rather than painted, and the hardware is solid brass. Three initials are pressed free, in gold foil, silver foil or a blind press.

Care

Wipe it dry, rub light scuffs with your thumb to warm the oils back in, and condition it once a year. A shower is fine; a downpour wants a slow dry away from heat.
