The Lorne — Cognac Leather Work Tote with Zip

Cognac makes the Lorne look less like a work bag and more like a bag that happens to hold a laptop, which is exactly what most people who buy it want. The amber tone warms up under office light instead of flattening the way dyed corrected grain does.

It comes in two sizes. The medium is 15.25″ (39 cm) wide, 11.5″ (29 cm) high and 5″ (13 cm) deep, with a 10.25″ (26 cm) handle drop, and takes up to a 14-inch laptop, padded sleeve. The large is 18.5″ (47 cm) wide, 12.25″ (31 cm) high and 5.5″ (14 cm) deep, with a 10.75″ (27 cm) handle drop, and takes up to a 16-inch laptop, padded sleeve. It is for putting a laptop on a table in a room where you would rather the bag said nothing at all.

The leather

A wax finish over full grain, with no lacquer on top of it. The surface picks up a low shine where you handle it and stays matte everywhere else.

How it is made

Hand stitching where it carries weight, machine stitching where it does not, which is an honest division of labour. Handles are set through the body panel and riveted in solid brass at both ends, never glued to a tab. A padded full height sleeve, one zip pocket, two open pockets and a pen loop, all in cotton twill. Made to order and dispatched in 3 to 5 working days, or about a day longer with a monogram.
