The Thirsk — Cognac Men’s Leather Crossbody Bag

Cognac is a warm amber brown with the grain left visible. It is finished with a light wax, not a topcoat, so expect it to deepen about half a shade in the first year, most of all where your hand goes.

The Thirsk is a flat, upright zip crossbody built for men: taller than it is wide, with a front zip pocket for the things you reach for and a tablet section behind.

It is 10.75″ (27 cm) wide, 11.75″ (30 cm) tall and 2.25″ (6 cm) deep, with a strap that adjusts up to a 25.5″ (65 cm) drop. An 11-inch tablet, a notebook, wallet, phone and keys fit without bulging.

Inside there is a tablet section, two pen loops and a zip pocket, plus a flat front zip pocket and a magnetic slip pocket on the back. It comes with an adjustable 1″ (2.5 cm) leather crossbody strap on solid brass swivel clips, up to a 25.5″ (65 cm) drop.

The leather

The hide is full-grain, which means the top surface is left on, grain, small scars and all, instead of being sanded and printed. It is the strongest layer of the skin and the only one that ages well.

How it is made

Made to order in our own workshop. The strap roots, the part that fails first on cheap bags, are double layered and hand stitched, and all fittings are solid brass.

Care

Wipe it with a dry cloth, keep it out of long direct sun, and give it a neutral leather conditioner a couple of times a year.
