The Ludlow — Chocolate Woven Leather Flap Crossbody Bag

This is the Ludlow with a hand woven flap: the same structured crossbody and solid brass push-lock, with the front flap woven from strips of full-grain leather.

Chocolate is our darkest brown, close to espresso indoors and clearly brown in sunlight. It hides marks well, which makes it the brown to pick if the bag gets thrown on café floors and car seats.

It is 9.5″ (24 cm) wide, 7″ (18 cm) tall and 2.75″ (7 cm) deep, and the strap adjusts up to a 23.5″ (60 cm) drop. Phone, card wallet, keys, sunglasses and a lipstick.

Inside there is one zip pocket and one open phone pocket, plus a slip pocket on the back wall outside. It comes with an adjustable 1″ (2.5 cm) smooth leather crossbody strap on solid brass swivel clips, up to a 23.5″ (60 cm) drop.

The weave

The front is woven by hand from strips of full-grain leather cut from the same hide as the rest of the bag. The weave sits on a solid leather back panel, so it holds its shape and the contents never show through.

How it is made

Weaving adds most of a day to each bag. The strips are woven on a board, stitched to the backing panel around every edge, then the bag is assembled and saddle stitched by hand in our own workshop. That is why woven styles leave us in 4 to 6 working days.

Care

Brush dust out of the weave with a soft dry brush, keep it out of long direct sun, and condition the smooth parts twice a year. Do not soak the woven panel.
