The Skipton — Cognac Leather Sling Bag

Cognac is a warm amber brown with the grain left visible. It is finished with a light wax, not a topcoat, so expect it to deepen about half a shade in the first year, most of all where your hand goes.

The Skipton is a slim sling: worn high across the chest or the back, with a quick front pocket and a hidden zip pocket that sits against your body.

It is 11.5″ (29 cm) wide, 6.25″ (16 cm) tall and 2.25″ (6 cm) deep. The buckle strap adjusts from an 11.75″ to a 20.75″ (30 to 53 cm) drop and wears on either shoulder. A phone, passport, wallet, keys and an e-reader fit with room to spare.

Inside there is a front quick-access zip pocket, a hidden zip pocket on the back that sits against your body, and two slip pockets inside. It comes with an adjustable 1.25″ (3 cm) leather sling strap with brass buckle, 11.75″ to 20.75″ (30 to 53 cm) drop, wears left or right.

The leather

We use full-grain cowhide from our own regular supply and keep the natural surface. Nothing is sprayed over it to hide marks, so it softens and darkens with use instead of cracking.

How it is made

Every bag is cut, stitched and finished by hand in our own workshop. Strap anchors are stitched and riveted, not glued, and the edges are burnished in several passes so there is no paint to flake.

Care

Let it dry slowly if it gets caught in rain, stuff it lightly with paper when stored, and condition it twice a year.
