The Hexham — Oxblood Large Leather Sling Bag

The Hexham is our larger sling: a chest bag with a two-way zip, a padded sleeve for a mini tablet, and a hidden pocket on the back for a passport.

Oxblood is a dark red-brown, the colour of old library chairs. It pairs with grey, black and denim, and gets more depth with polish rather than fading.

It is 13″ (33 cm) wide, 7.75″ (20 cm) tall and 3.25″ (8 cm) deep, with a buckle strap that adjusts from a 13″ to a 21.75″ (33 to 55 cm) drop. A mini tablet up to 8.3 inches, a water bottle, wallet, phone and charger fit together.

Inside there is a padded sleeve for a mini tablet, two slip pockets and a key clip, plus a front zip pocket and a hidden back zip pocket. It comes with an adjustable 1.25″ (3 cm) leather sling strap with brass buckle, 13″ to 21.75″ (33 to 55 cm) drop.

The leather

Full-grain, aniline finished leather. The colour sits in the leather rather than on it, so the bag patinas rather than peels.

How it is made

Load-bearing seams are saddle stitched by hand, two needles through each hole, so a cut thread does not run. Edges are sanded and burnished rather than painted, and the hardware is solid brass, unplated.

Care

Brush off dust, keep it away from heaters, and use a little neutral conditioner when the leather starts to look dry.
