The Hexham — Chocolate Large Leather Sling Bag

The Hexham is our larger sling: a chest bag with a two-way zip, a padded sleeve for a mini tablet, and a hidden pocket on the back for a passport.

Chocolate is our darkest brown, close to espresso indoors and clearly brown in sunlight. It hides marks well, which makes it the brown to pick if the bag gets thrown on café floors and car seats.

It is 13″ (33 cm) wide, 7.75″ (20 cm) tall and 3.25″ (8 cm) deep, with a buckle strap that adjusts from a 13″ to a 21.75″ (33 to 55 cm) drop. A mini tablet up to 8.3 inches, a water bottle, wallet, phone and charger fit together.

Inside there is a padded sleeve for a mini tablet, two slip pockets and a key clip, plus a front zip pocket and a hidden back zip pocket. It comes with an adjustable 1.25″ (3 cm) leather sling strap with brass buckle, 13″ to 21.75″ (33 to 55 cm) drop.

The leather

The hide is full-grain, which means the top surface is left on, grain, small scars and all, instead of being sanded and printed. It is the strongest layer of the skin and the only one that ages well.

How it is made

Every bag is cut, stitched and finished by hand in our own workshop. Strap anchors are stitched and riveted, not glued, and the edges are burnished in several passes so there is no paint to flake.

Care

Wipe it with a dry cloth, keep it out of long direct sun, and give it a neutral leather conditioner a couple of times a year.
