The Bamburgh — Tan Leather Toiletry Case

The Bamburgh is a boxy cosmetic and toiletry case in full grain leather, with a wraparound zip, a top carry handle and a firm base that stands on a counter.

Tan, our lightest brown and vegetable tanned, so it darkens noticeably toward honey with sun and handling.

At 9 inches wide it holds a full makeup bag and skincare routine, with brushes standing upright.

The zip opens wide so the case sits open like a vanity box; inside, a coated lining wipes clean, with loops for brushes and pockets for small bottles.

The leather

Full grain leather is the top layer of the hide with nothing sanded off, so it keeps its pores and small natural marks, it is the strongest part of the hide, and it softens and darkens into a patina rather than cracking.

How it is made

Made to order in our own workshop. Every piece is cut by hand, the seams are stitched with waxed thread, the edges are sanded and burnished rather than painted, and the hardware is solid brass. Three initials are pressed free, in gold foil, silver foil or a blind press.

Care

Wipe it with a dry cloth, let it dry slowly away from heat if it gets wet, and condition it twice a year with a neutral leather balm.
