A men's leather duffle bag should carry a long weekend's worth of clothes and shoes, take being thrown in a car trunk, and still look good when you walk into a hotel. Ours are the Barnard in full grain leather, at $295, and the Keswick in waxed canvas with full grain leather handles and base, at $235, both for two to three nights; the Malton in thick buffalo leather, at $285, for up to four; and the 24-inch Helmsley holdall, at $295, for a week. All have a detachable shoulder strap.

At 21 inches wide, the Barnard sits comfortably under a man's arm or on the shoulder strap without hitting his knees, and packs two to three nights. If you regularly need a week's clothes, or carry sports kit, choose the 24-inch Helmsley holdall, which has a separate zipped compartment for shoes. It is larger than most carry-on limits, so it suits the car, the train or the hold.
Chocolate and cognac are the classic duffle colors and hide travel scuffs best. Black is the most formal. Tan starts light and darkens fastest. Olive reads as brown indoors and green outdoors.
Each duffle is stitched by hand in our own workshop after you order and leaves within 5 to 7 working days. We press up to three initials on it free, and it has 30-day returns.
