The Hebden — Cognac Men’s Leather Satchel

Cognac sits between tan and chocolate, a reddish amber brown that warms up in sunlight. On the Hebden it is the colour most people pick as a gift, because it looks good with navy, grey and denim alike and it ages without ever looking tired.

This is a 15 inch men’s satchel in full grain cowhide with a two-buckle flap, a flapped pocket on the front, a rolled leather handle and a strap that clips on and off. It is built for a new job, a first year at grad school or a daily train ride.

A personalized cognac leather satchel as a gift for him

Up to three initials are pressed free, by hand, into the front flap, below the buckles, so they are the first thing he sees. There is no foil, just a clean impression in the leather that darkens along with the rest of the bag.

It arrives in a dust bag with a care card, ready to wrap. If the colour or size is wrong, you have 30 days to return it.

Cognac full grain leather: colour, grain and feel

The cognac dye is translucent, so the natural grain shows through as fine lines and the odd healed mark. Those are signs of real full grain, not faults.

The leather is firm when new and relaxes within a few weeks, especially around the handle and the strap, while the flap keeps its square shape.
